The Animation Industry in India is witnessing a major boom. A new outsourcing fever has gripped India. Global entertainment majors like Walt Disney, Imax, Warner Brothers and Sony are signing up huge contracts with Indian animation companies. Work is pouring in from places like the United States, Europe and Asia in the form of outsourced projects and co-production deals. Companies are outsourcing animation projects to India for Animated TV Serials, Films, Visual effects, Commercials, Computer games and E-Content development. Indian Companies are also foraying into their own productions in Animation, Gaming and VFX Industry. Here are some interesting facts: The Gaming industry, on the other hand, has grown at a higher rate of 32% over the previous years and stood at an estimated Rs. 2.7 billion in 2007, up from Rs.2.05 billion in 2006. the animation industry will continue to maintain its growth pace and is projected to increase to Rs.40 billion in 2012 from its current size of Rs.13 billion. Domestic demand will create the fillip in its growth as well as contribution from international co-productions, especially in the television segment. With every passing year, animated movies seem to hit a new peak as far as critical and financial success is concerned – with 2009 boasting such smash hits as Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Monsters vs. Aliens, and up. With a strong mix of sequels and original works set to conquer multiplexes over the next several months, 2011 undoubtedly possesses the potential to establish itself as a record-breaking year for the animation genre. A lot of appreciation has been received for movies like Spiderman-3, Hanuman, Krishna, Dhoom, Krishh amongst many others.
BSc in Animation and VFX will be a 3-year degree programme. The eligibility to join BSc in Animation and Visual Effects is 10 + 2 in any stream. Only 50 seats are available.
You will be introduced to aspects of drawing such as anatomy, gestures, perspective and layout. You will also learn about classical and digital art, story boarding and storytelling, animation production process and various techniques of animation.
You will consolidate your understanding and move further towards specialized forms of animation. You will also continue your development through movie analysis and appreciation, 3D animation, pre and post-production and lighting and camera techniques.
In the final stage, you will learn game art and specialized forms of 3D art, alongside studio design and project management. You will also be assigned a project towards the end of the third year.

On completion of the course each student has to create a portfolio of his own either in group or individually. Each student is required to complete a project based on his/her learning in the course and it can be done individually or in groups. The main aim of this is to create the best portfolio of the student which will be submitted to firms for job opportunities.
